CBD Cycling Links project

Media statement from Senator Bridget McKenzie: Senator for Victoria.

Wodonga Council will recieve $594,550 towards the CBD Tourism Cycling Links project as part of the Regional Jobs and Investment Package from the Coalition Government.

Nationals Senator for Victoria, Bridget McKenzie was in Wodonga today to officially congratulate Wodonga Council on it's successful application.

"Projects like the CBD Toursim Cycling Links will see the construction of an 8 kilometre sealed track, along with car park and rest areas to increase Wodonga and the North East region's attraction as an outdoor tourism destination."

As Minister for Sport it's great to see a cycling project getting this assistance."

"The sport is extremely popular in the Wodonga region and with this infrastructure it will continue to grow."

Mayor Cr Anna Speedie said the project will be well recieved in the local community and is well targeted for the sport of cycling to flourish in the region.

This is just one of the many great projects across the Goulburn Valley region that the Regional Jobs and Investment Package has been able to assist.

"20 million dollars was committed to this region to ensure that vital projects that will ensure more jobs and further infrastructure in our communities and it is very exciting to see what is going to be done with that money. These projects will make a real difference to real people and that's what this package is about."

Westmont Aged Care Services in Baranduda also received $25,500 from the package to allow them to undertake a scoping study into how to best train their staff to prepare for the changing landscape of aged care.

Senator McKenzie said that the Nationals are fighting for the regions and udnerstand the great potential local communities have.

"It is vital that we are able to continue creating initiatives like the Regional Jobs and Investment Package to keep investment in our local communities, without The Nationals in government none of this would be possible."
