Making it easier to do business in Wodonga

Are you starting a business in Wodonga? Here's what you need to know.

Wodonga Council offers a streamlined business permit application process through our Better Approvals Program. We know it can be complicated for small business owners which is why we’ve made it easy.

The online business assessment tool will give you a better understanding of the type of permits you may need and provides you with the opportunity to get our Business Concierge to contact you to discuss your ideas and requirements in more detail.

Our specialist Business Concierge Officer will assist you up front and step you through the permit application process from beginning to end. Once you have the relevant information you can apply for all required permits through an online single application form.

Below is a step-by-step guide to the application process

Step 1 - Online business assessment tool
This tool will give you an indication as to what permits you will require from the council. Once submitted the information is sent to our Business Concierge Officer who will make contact to discuss next steps.

Step 2 - Pre-application meeting
For complex requirements, the business concierge will arrange a pre-application meeting with you and the relevant departments. During this meeting application requirements will be discussed and timeframes outlined.

Step 3 - Single application form
Once you know the application requirements and have all relevant documentation, you can complete the single application form. You will only require to complete the sections of the form relevant to you.

Step 4 - Assessment
Council departments will individually assess your application and contact you directly if they need any further information. It will be during this stage that payments will need to be made.

tick Step 5 - Approval

You will be notified as each permit is issued by relevant council departments. The Business Concierge Officer will be available through the entire period to provide support and answer any questions you may have.
