Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Wodonga Council is required to prepare a Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan every four years or include strategies to promote public health and wellbeing and address environmental health dangers into the overall Council Plan.

Wodonga's Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025 – 2029 outlines the council’s commitment to fostering a healthy, safe and thriving community for all.

Grounded in the understanding that health is shaped by a broad range of social, environmental and economic factors, this plan takes a whole-of community approach to improving health outcomes and reducing health inequities across Wodonga.

The priority areas for the next four years are:zOpt_iStock_000015855418_demographics

  • Improving wellbeing
  • Increasing active living
  • Increasing healthy eating
  • Promoting gender equity and reducing gender-based violence
  • Reducing harm from alcohol and drug use
  • Reducing harm from tobacco and e-cigarette use
  • Tackling climate change and its impact on health

The plan has a key focus on prevention with the aim of creating meaningful and sustainable improvement for the health and wellbeing of Wodonga’s population.

Disability Action Plan

Wodonga Council aims to ensure that everyone in the community enjoys the same opportunities, rights and respect. Creating an equitable and inclusive community is critical to the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and the broader community. The Wodonga Disability Action Plan (the Plan) continues the council’s ongoing work to promote community participation and inclusion, and outlines the priorities of the council in improving access to its services, programs, communications and infrastructure.
