Lawrence Street bridge

PROJECT
COMPLETE

We will be undertaking works in 2020 to replace the Lawrence St bridge over House Creek and reconstruct the approaches.

Following preparatory works including construction of bridge elements off-site as well as relocation of services in the area, works will begin with the installation of new pylons followed by the placement of the bridge on site.

This will be following by civil works to raise the road level to the height of the new bridge and construction of footpaths and a new underpass.

The bridge, which is more than 50 years old, will be raised to allow the shared pathway that crosses Lawrence St to pass underneath the bridge, making it safer for pedestrians and cyclists using the House Creek path network. It will also improve the flood capacity of the bridge.

There will be disruptions while works are taking place and more information will be provided closer to work starting late-2020. The works are expected to take up to 16 weeks to complete.

Alternative routes around the crossing point will include Brockley St, Melbourne Rd and Woodland St and detours will be well sign-posted.
