Critically acclaimed Sunset Strip arrives in Albury Wodonga

21 Oct, 2019

Sunset Strip by Suzie Miller arrives in Albury Wodonga 5-9 November with critical acclaim.
The play powerfully affirms the role of family in those “why-me” moments, and features Wagga
man Lex Marinos alongside a stellar cast.
The story happens in a regional tourist town that is dying, where a family is reunited.
After a long bout of chemotherapy to treat breast cancer, Caroline (Eloise Snape) returns home to
Sunset Strip - this once thriving summer hot-spot, now sees the lake completely dried up and the
holiday-makers long gone. Yet Caroline’s younger sister, the ever-optimistic Phoebe (Emma
Jackson), remains doggedly hopeful that things will get better. Between a stint in rehab, caring for
her dementia-suffering father (Lex Marinos) who has a penchant for training goldfish, and losing
her kids temporarily to DOCS, Phoebe has finally managed to find love and security in Teddy
(Simon Lyndon), a local fella with big demons and bigger heart, and now that Caroline is back,
Phoebe is blindly determined to prove that life can be as fabulous as it once was.
“It is such a pleasure to welcome Lex Marinos back to the Hume Bank Butter Factory Theatre stage
in this beautiful production. Lex has a long legacy with HotHouse Theatre being one of the original
members of the founding Artistic Directorate,” says Karla Conway, HotHouse Theatre Artistic
Director.
As the final production for HotHouse Theatre’s 2019 Season, this show sees out the year with a
host of experiences and engagements.
