Self-taught artist and passionate creator Georgia Keogh is the local talent behind Wodonga’s latest community hub of art, connection and colourful experimentation.
Growing up on a farm near Holbrook, Georgia spent her childhood building, painting and finding excuses to get messy. For her, art was never about perfection – it was simply about the joy of creativity.
That same philosophy now sits at the heart of The Paint Yard – a vibrant destination for art classes, creative workshops, paint nights and hands-on experiences for all ages.
What humbly began as a backyard studio in 2022, Georgia has now developed a thriving creative space in the heart of Wodonga – officially opening her Church Street studio in April this year after completing much of the fit out herself.
“Opening in Wodonga was the next natural step,” Georgia shared.
“I simply walked into the Church Street building and immediately knew I could picture The Paint Yard there.
“I wanted to move the business out of my backyard, create a better separation between work and home, and most importantly, have the space to offer so much more to the community.”
And that is exactly what Georgia has done. Bright, welcoming and filled with colour, the studio reflects the imagination and enjoyment of the many visitors who have already passed through its doors.
With a vision to create a community hub where people of all ages can slow down, put their phones away, meet new people and reconnect with their imagination – Georgia has crafted a unique space where creativity feels accessible and authentic.
“Art can be intimidating - especially for adults who often haven't picked up a paintbrush since school. My goal is to help them rediscover the joy of creating, without the pressure of perfection,” she shared warmly.
“Whether someone spends two hours painting a canvas or twenty minutes cutting up coloured paper, the outcome isn't what matters most.
“If they leave feeling calmer, more confident or simply happier than when they arrived, then we've done what we set out to do.”
Tuesday through to Thursday the studio operates with regular programs including Mini Makers for preschoolers, after-school art for primary-aged children, homeschool sessions and Coffee & Craft for adults.
From Friday to Sunday, the studio transforms into an Art Café, where visitors can book a table or simply drop in and choose an experience from the art menu.

Options include pottery painting, mosaics, acrylic painting, watercolours, charcoal, soft pastels and collage.
All sessions include guidance, inspiration cards and plenty of encouragement, so visitors can simply walk through the doors without any artistic experience and immerse themselves in the space.
However, it is Georgia’s after-school art program that has become one of The Paint Yard’s biggest success stories.
“The kids and families who keep coming back term after term, year after year, are the reason I’m here,” she remarked.
But that’s not where this popular studio’s offerings end. The business also hosts guided workshops, paint and sip events, children's birthday parties, private functions and live music evenings.
“I'm especially excited to get the live music nights really happening because they bring together two forms of creativity,” Georgia revealed.
“We make art while supporting young local musicians sharing their art with us,” she added.

“The Paint Yard has become much more than an art studio,” Georgia concluded. “I am now living out my dream full time.”
