City2City to contribute to Border Trust Bushfire Relief Fund

4 Feb, 2020

The City2City Committee today announced that in addition to supporting Nolan House, a portion of 2020 entry fees will be directed to local bushfire recovery efforts.

Following consultation with Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) and the Friends of Nolan House, the City2City Committee has confirmed that in addition to supporting the redevelopment of the courtyard at Nolan House, 20% of entry fees will be donated to the Border Trust Bushfire Relief fund.

City2City Committee Chair, Michelle Hudson said ‘As a community we have been directly and significantly impacted by the recent bushfires. The City2City has a great track record of bringing the community together to generate significant funds to improve the health and well-being of Border communities. The feeling across the City2City Committee and AWH was that if we have an opportunity to contribute to communities and individuals impacted by the recent bushfires, we should absolutely do so.’

The Border Trust Bushfire Relief Fund has been established to support bushfire recovery efforts in the region, with 100% of funds staying local. Funds generated by the City2City will be directed toward programs that focus on the mental health and well-being of impacted individuals and communities, continuing the support of mental health services in our region, in line with the original focus of the 2020 City2City beneficiary.

Lucie Shanahan, Executive Director of Mental Health Services at AWH says ‘We are thrilled that both Nolan House, as our acute mental healthcare facility, as well as the mental health and well-being of local bushfire impacted communities, will benefit from funds raised by the City2City this year.’

Participants in the City2City will be provided with a further opportunity to donate to the Border Trust Bushfire Relief Fund and/or Nolan House as part of the event registration process.
