Beat the winter blues with school holiday activities

20 Jun, 2022

Get ready for school holiday fun with a range of activities to keep kids physically moving and exercising their minds.

Both Felltimber and Baranduda community centres will host Risky Kids, a 45-minute program that uses parkour and gymnastics to build kids' resilience and physical literacy through exciting, interesting and non-prescriptive movement.

This results in improved mental and physical health, better engagement with the world around them, increased responsibility, courage and so much more.

Spots are limited. Check out the dates and session times for Felltimber here and Baranduda here.

If your kids enjoy making things, bring them along to Woodwork with Bunnings on July 4.

Children will learn a new skill while creating a useful item to take home.

Does your child enjoy acting and playing drama games?

Theatre Workshops with Alyce Fisher is a fun way for children to advance their acting skills.

Experienced drama teacher Sandra Guy will run this workshop at Felltimber and Baranduda community centres.

Cost is $10 per child.

From cosplay workshops, to board game sessions and a fan meet-up, there's heaps happening at Hyphen - Wodonga Library Gallery but be quick as spots are filling fast.

These winter school holidays are the perfect opportunity to get outside and explore our region and its rich history.

Visit Bonegilla Migrant Experience and take part in a rare opportunity to explore a collection of original buildings and walk in the shoes of those migrants who made this their first Australian home.

The site is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

If you’re visiting with your children, we recommend you use the Suitcase Trail.

By using a smartphone, you can let the kids roam the site, hunting for suitcases full of treasures while learning about life at the centre.

A paper version is also available from the Welcome Centre.

Guided tours run during the school holidays and cost $12 per adult, $9 for school age children and $14 for concession.

Bookings are recommended but not essential.

To make a booking, phone (02) 6020 6912.

When the weather is in your favour, why not check out one of the many public playgrounds in our city?

Wodonga has 72 designated public playgrounds dotted throughout the city.

Be sure to put Bill Black Park in Jason Circuit on your list of parks to visit as the West Wodonga park has received a makeover with exciting new play equipment.
