Wodonga Council is on the lookout for its next group of youngsters to head up our youth committee.
The council believes the best way to provide opportunities that young people, is to have programs, activities and events, organised and run by young people.
Wodonga Council Youth Development Officer Scott Bates said the youth committee looks to engage young people aged between 14 and 24 years in projects that are authentic and provide real-world context for learning where the voices of young people are heard and acted upon
"We are looking for young people aged 12-25 to join our Youth Committee and have a bunch planned for 2021 and into the future," he said.
"In the past our youth committees have been involved in organising things like Street Jam, Red Carpet Youth Awards, Battle of the Bands, Pool Parties etc, and during COVID facing the challenge head on by adapting programs to be delivered online.
"Now that things are slowly moving back to being a bit more normal there is an awesome opportunity for young people to be a part of organising and running events and programs for their peers in and around Wodonga.
"Whether you have a lot of time or small amount we would love to have you as part of a committee. No skills required just a willingness to have fun and learn something along the way."
Scott also said there was an opportunity for personal and professional development, including networking, learning and working alongside other youth committees in the region.
