The Baranduda café brewing up a frenzy

24 Jun, 2026

What started as a humble coffee van on a quiet patch of paddock has become the beating heart of Baranduda at Roxy’s Café.

This local gem has grown into one of Wodonga’s most-loved meeting places, first as The Cheeky Bean coffee van operating for three years, before taking up permanent residence across the road in the dedicated café space within the unique townhouse development on Dokic Way.

During this time, owners Marianne and Lachlan Breust feel privileged to have watched this side of Baranduda find its feet and transform into a thriving community.

Now their café has become a beloved fixture in the lives of local families for the last two years in its bricks and mortar home.

Known for its quality, generosity and welcoming atmosphere, Roxy’s prides itself on quality coffee, a delectable variety of house-made desserts and slices, and a generous all-day breakfast and lunch menu made fresh with quality ingredients.

But nothing has reached iconic status quite like the Piggy Bumnuts, which are Roxy’s signature bacon and egg rolls paired with their famous house-made relish.

“Our relish has become one of our signature items… it’s ordered by people all over Australia!” revealed Marianne.

In a time when many families are feeling the pressures of the cost-of-living, Roxy’s is committed to providing the community with the heart and generosity that makes every visit standout.

“One of the things customers comment on most is the size, quality and value for money of our meals,” the couple said.

“We believe people should still be able to enjoy a great meal without feeling disappointed by the portion or price.”

At the centre of it all, keeping an eye on the action and making customers smile day in day out, is the café’s namesake, Roxy the Boxer dog. As a beloved presence, Roxy, has become part of the charm that keeps people coming back.

“Roxy represents everything we want our café to be: friendly, welcoming and a place where everyone feels at home,” they shared.

“When the opportunity came to move into the café being built across the road, we knew we wanted a new name, but one that still reflected who we were and would help customers know it was the same people behind the business.”

And that’s exactly what locals have embraced. Roxy’s has undoubtably become a bustling hub where regulars gather, newcomers feel instantly welcomed and the atmosphere is buzzing with laughter from the team behind the counter.

“We are incredibly proud of our team,” Marianne revealed.

“Great staff can be hard to find, and we are very lucky to have a group that work hard, care about what they do and have become like family to us.”

Throughout the year, the café runs various competitions, giveaways and fun activities that involve the whole community, bringing a smile to everyone who walks through the doors.

And the community spirit doesn’t stop when Roxy’s closes for the day.

By subleasing the space at night, Marianne and Lachlan have created a second local favourite: a pizzeria that keeps locals satisfied after dark – open from 5pm to 8pm every Tuesday to Saturday.

Located in the heart of Baranduda, you will find Roxy’s Café at 19 Dokic Way, Baranduda.

Open Monday to Friday from 6am to 2pm and Saturdays from 7am to 2pm, the café also opens its takeaway window with a limited menu on Sunday’s from 7am to 11.30am.

Make sure to follow and like this local favourite’s Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up with all the fun, because there is always something happening at Roxy’s Café.
