Solar light funding for city

12 Nov, 2019

Wodonga Council will install 47 solar lights after receiving state government funding to help tackle community safety concerns.

The solar lights will be installed along shared pathways in Felix Grundy Park, Dick Street, Parkers Road and Moorefield Park Drive. This will link other illuminated shared pathways, improving natural surveillance and deterring anti-social behaviour.

The Wodonga Parks and Reserves Solar Lighting Project will receive $140,000 from the Public Safety Infrastructure Fund.

“The Wodonga Parks and Reserves Solar Lighting Project will combat unwanted and antisocial behaviour and give residents the confidence to engage and enjoy their community,” Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said.

“These improvements will also help boost the local economy by making the space a more desirable and enticing place to visit.”

The Public Safety Infrastructure Fund grants program aims to build community safety and confidence through the development of public safety and security infrastructure.
