Your Friday night sorted

4 Apr, 2019

Perch Creek - sounds like the name of a great bottle of wine, but you would be wrong.

It's the name of a five-piece Melbourne band headlining this evening's Fridays on My Mind.

Four of the five members are siblings, offering a diverse 70's influenced sound, featuring multiple lead vocals and strong five-part harmonies threaded together by the band’s unique five-way collaborative song-writing.

Camilla Hodgkins describes their music as a blend of modern pop/folk music delivered with creative energy and fearless spirit.

"We are looking forward to coming back to Wodonga - we played at Fridays on My Mind three or four years ago and it was a great night," Camilla said.

Camilla, who is the oldest sibling at age 31, plays the keyboard, Lear Hodgkins is on drums, Eileen Hodgkins plays the guitar, Christi Hodgkins is on harmonica, saw, and trombone while James Chandler plays bass.

The band was originally based in Perch Creek in northern New South Wales (hence the band name).

The group released their self-titled album in April 2018, produced by renowned artist J Walker.

It features ten diverse tracks.

First single Mama Sings has met shining reviews and enjoyed airplay on Triple J, Double J, ABC Radio National and various local and community stations across Australia and Canada.

Be sure not to miss this band live. Come on down to The Cube Wodonga Courtyard from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

While enjoying the live music, relax on the night with drinks from Gapstead Wines and for the first time we have Backwoods Distilling Co. from Yackandandah offering a range of handcrafted whisky and spirits.

Feast on wood-fired pizza, kranskies, paella, cheese platters, ice cream and sorbet.

You can also visit the Wodonga Library for themed activities on The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

Listen to the funky fresh music from The Vegetable Plot, create and design your own plot plant or make a badge based on the beloved characters from Beatrix Potter books.
