Junction Place reference group announced

20 Jan, 2023

Development Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of the inaugural membership of the Community Reference Group (CRG) for Junction Place - Australia’s largest regional urban renewal initiative.

The eight CRG members have been selected following an extensive process. The creation of the CRG will ensure that the Wodonga community is kept involved as the project progresses.

The following members have been chosen for a two-year term: Elliot Child, Rachel Habgood, Kellie Howard, Michelle Hudson, Jye McBurnie, Bobbi McKibbin, Farrah Reid and Julie Rose Starr.

Development Victoria has selected Susan Benedyka as the CRG’s independent chair. Susan is Managing Director and Principal Consultant at The Regional Development Company, a business she founded in 1997 that has been involved with more than 1000 projects across regional Australia.

Development Victoria’s Acting Group Head Precincts Niall Cunningham has congratulated the community members selected and the independent Chair.

“It was pleasing to receive a large number of applications for the inaugural Junction Place Community Reference Group and the role of independent chair, which highlights that the Wodonga community only wants the best outcomes for the development of Junction Place.

“There is a great balance of community representation on the CRG, and each person brings their own skillset, experience and expertise to the role.

“I’m confident that the CRG will achieve our shared ambition of providing a forum to connect the community with project partners to ensure community aspirations for Junction Place are acknowledged and there is transparency on how the project is being progressed.

“We look forward to working with the Community Reference Group and Wodonga Council to plan and deliver the best outcomes for Junction Place and the community,” Mr Cunningham said.
The CRG’s first meeting is scheduled for early February 2023.

Junction Place is Australia’s largest regional urban renewal initiative that aims to transform central Wodonga into a vibrant entertainment and community precinct. The project will create more than 1000 local jobs and boost economic growth in the city.
