On behalf of the council and our city, Wodonga Mayor Cr Kev Poulton offers our deepest condolences to His Majesty King Charles III and the Royal family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - a beloved Monarch, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

"Today is the end of the second Elizabethan age. most of us do not remember a time in which Queen Elizabeth did not reign over the Commonwealth," Cr Poulton said.

"We remember fondly the Queen and Prince Philip's visit to the region in 1988 and the way she kept Australia in her thoughts, extending sympathies and messages in our darkest times including the most recent bushfires that affected our region.

"Her Majesty captured our hearts and many have a strong affection for the Royal family.

"May she rest in eternal peace."

The flags outside the council offices will fly at half-mast in line with protocol.

The water tower will be lit in royal purple to mark the Queen's passing.
