Exploring the land, the figure and the flower

17 May, 2022

Albury-based artist Alison Percy has always had an eye for detail that is well suited to the arts.

Originally training as a graphic designer, she has also been a freelance interior design consultant, illustrator and calligrapher.

Alison has embraced her latest venture as an artist in residence at Hyphen – Wodonga Library Gallery in the Creative Studio until the end of July.

While in residence, Alison will be developing works for Art Fairs in Sydney and Melbourne featuring High Country floralscapes, still life and the flower.

“I have a lot of work to do from small size to medium and then larger ones, so we will see how much I get done but I can’t wait,” she said.

Referencing traditional Japanese calligraphy, Alison combines her fascination of fluid forms with her knowledge and passion of colour.

Alison is looking forward to meeting people and sharing her art practice with others during her residency.

“The publicity and exposure is great,” she said.

“I am passionate about community and another artist friend is going to bring her students through so I look forward to that.

“This experience is unique and I love saying yes to things because that’s where growth happens and you have to trust in your own journey.”

Since her first solo exhibition in 2015, Alison exhibits several times a year and her work has been featured in publications such as BelleThe Design Files and Est Living.

Meet Alison and explore her exciting art practice during the below open studio dates:

  • Saturday, May 7 from 10am to 3pm
  • Saturday, June 25 from 10am to 3pm
  • Saturday, July 9 from 10am to 3pm
