Arts and culture positively affects the way we experience our city by providing diverse opportunities for community expression, aesthetic dialogue, the exchange of ideas, unique and stimulating experiences, entertainment and visitor attraction. These experiences are facilitated across a range of venues, public spaces and programs.

The draft Cultural Services Plan sets the vision and strategies for council’s cultural services over the next five years. The plan demonstrates the council’s ongoing commitment to develop and deliver innovative, entertaining, educational and diverse arts, events and cultural programs across the city.

The main strategic priorities of the new draft Cultural Services Plan 2021-2026 include the following.

Cultural assets, resources and creative capacity that support and strengthen the cultural life of our community.

  • Council will support the art and cultural industry through partnerships, professional development, grants, and accessible creative spaces and facilities

Our heritage and identity are valued, preserved, shared and celebrated.

  • Council is committed to preserving our cultural heritage, protecting our cultural spaces and partnering with our Aboriginal communities in profiling and presenting Aboriginal cultural product.

A developing cultural economy, underpinned by creativity and innovation.

  • Build upon Wodonga’s reputation as a creative and innovative arts and cultural hub; focussing on the attraction and delivery of high quality programs and events that support social, cultural and economic benefit to the community.
