Draft Baranduda Fields Master Plan

Wodonga Council is asking for feedback for the updated master plan for Baranduda Fields.

In 2012 the council purchased the Baranduda site, adopting a long-term master plan for a multifunctional sport and recreation precinct in 2013. In 2015-2016 the council undertook detailed planning for the first stage of capital works and a cultural heritage study. As a result, changes to the master plan were identified.

With the opportunity to update the master plan, the council also identified that it should:

  • Improve identification and options to support recreation and social activities within Baranduda Fields;
  • Update sports facility development and timing based on participation and sports data;
  • Identify and plan for culturally significant items;
  • Undertake broader site analysis work to inform the master plan; and,
  • Enhance the connection to and support for conservation lands within the precinct.

The council will undertake a six-week engagement process on the draft master plan with the community and key stakeholders in parallel to the Recreation Facilities Governance Review.

Baranduda Fields remains a long-term priority project for the council.

The council made the decision in December 2016 to defer the construction of Baranduda Fields and focused on addressing issues facing our present facilities.

Having a current master plan will ensure the council is ready to proceed when funding opportunities arise.
