Wodonga Council is upgrading the playground in Kosovar Park, Bandicoot Lane, Bandiana.

The existing play equipment was installed in 2012. The playground is due to be upgraded as part of council’s Playground Strategy 2016-2020.

The council wants to know what playground users and the wider community think should be part of the equipment update.

Wodonga has more than 70 playgrounds and a map of the city’s playgrounds and amenities is available on our website here

About Kosovar Park

The park was named Kosovar Park in 2017 in honour of refugees from the European country who were sheltered at the nearby Bandiana army base in 1999. Bandiana was one of eight army barracks in Australia to host 4000 Kosovar refugees. Many refugee families remained at the local safe haven until April, 2000. The Albury Wodonga Multicultural Resource Centre, local schools and the Albury Wodonga Community College played a pivotal role in looking after the refugees.

Under our Playground Strategy, the park is categorised a local park.

A local play space serves homes generally within 10 minutes’ walk or 500m for families and its primary purpose is for play and social/family recreation. It should have seats and tables, shade and shelter but barbecues, toilets and parking are not required as visits are likely to be of short duration and its role of serving homes within walking distance.
