How to become a registered prescribed accommodation premises

If you would like to operate a prescribed accommodation premises in Wodonga, you must register with the council’s Environmental Health team. 

Prescribed Accommodation is regulated under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (Vic) and the Victorian government has developed a set of standards and requirements that proprietors of prescribed accommodation must comply with. This is known as the Public Health and Wellbeing (Prescribed Accommodation) Regulations 2020 (Vic).

For Planning Permits, it is recommended to speak with the Planning Team before lodging a permit application. For more information visit Wodonga Council - Planning forms and checklists.

You are required to submit plans of the premise to be approved against the requirements of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and subsequent regulations with the relevant fee.

Submit your completed application to register a prescribed accommodation premises form via email at info@wodonga.vic.gov.au, or in person at 104 Hovell St, Wodonga or via post at PO Box 923, Wodonga.

Ensure you have attached a floor plan of the premises you intend to register with your application.

Once your application is received, an invoice for applicable fees will be emailed with details on how to pay the invoice.

Once your payment is received, the application will be forwarded to an Environmental Health Officer to assess the application.

Note: The premises cannot be used for prescribed accommodation until an Environmental Health Officer has assessed, inspected and approved your premises registration.

Once your application is received by the council, you should allow up to 2 weeks (10 business days) before your registration is completed.


Once your registration has been approved, you can commence trade and a certificate of registration will be emailed to your nominated email address.
