Garry Knight, who enjoys giving to others, has been presented with the Eagle award at the June council meeting.
The Eagle Award recognises people within the community who are making someone's life better, getting involved in the community and helping others.
Mr Knight is a retired financial adviser who volunteers many hours each week to various clubs and organisations.
He volunteers an average of at least four hours a week with Wodonga Urban Landcare Network (WULN), carrying out various roles including extensive weeding and planting at various parks and reserves and managing the WULN Facebook page.
Mr Knight and his wife Teresa are the founders of the Friends of Felltimber Creek.
Mr Knight has planted many groundcovers, shrubs and trees along the creek and during the dry summer of 2018-2019 he hand-watered 900 seedlings.
He regularly monitors the possum nest boxes and over the years he has reduced feral rabbit numbers by ferreting in the area.
The Felltimber Community Centre's herb garden is in good hands with Mr Knight spending several hours each week planting, weeding and harvesting.
But Mr Knight's volunteer work doesn't end there, he is also involved in sporting circles.
He provides Wodonga Bulldogs with invaluable social media assistance.
It began with posting photos from occasional matches to becoming their regular photographer, including at all games played by the Wodonga Jets All Abilities football team.
Mr Knight mentors some of the All Abilities players, taking them on outings and helps wherever he sees a need.
One of the players he assists is council's June YAS recipient, Zach Pearce.
"Zach is a great young bloke who is passionate about sport and really enjoys being involved in the general community," Mr Knight said.
"It's a pleasure to spend time with Zach and see him achieve great things."
When Mr Knight is not busy doing any of the mentioned roles, he is also a reserve driver for Meals on Wheels, undertaking an average of one to two meal runs a week.
