Top things to do in Wodonga this winter

Top things to do in Wodonga this winter

The temperature is dropping but that doesn't mean you should stay cooped up inside these winter school holidays.

We have compiled some events, activities and ideas to keep kids occupied and stimulated during the school break.

For those who love history and culture, School Holidays Guided Tours at the Bonegilla Migrant Experience is one to check out.

Visit the Bonegilla Migrant Experience and take a guided or self-guided tour and immerse yourself in the rich culture of the national heritage site.

The site now offers bikes for hire. So why not go along as a family, cycle around the site and then onto the High Country Rail Trail to enjoy Lake Hume and the North East region. The cost of hiring a bike and helmet is just $40 per day.

Fancy a free breakfast? Rock up to Felltimber Community Centre this Sunday for the Sunday Breakfasts.

Drop into Arts Space Wodonga on July 4 from 11am for The Gallery's Gone Potty! Holiday Workshop.

Be inspired at the free workshop by the work of local artist Susie Losch and make your own ceramic pot, vessel or object to add to our community exhibition Retrospect.

Book some tickets to The Big Hoorah! Presented by the Flying Fruit Fly Circus at The Cube Wodonga on July 6.

Kids who love to dance will enjoy getting their moves on at the Baranduda Community Centre's Kids Disco on July 1.

For children who love to write, creative writing classes with writer and author Thalia Kalkipsakis will be held at Wodonga Library on July 1. Bookings are required, click here.

Keep your children entertained in the kitchen, without making a mess at home, with the Kids Cooking Club - Winter delights holiday program at Felltimber Community Centre on July 2.

Bring the children down to Felltimber Community Centre for a fun and active fitness session on July 4. At Running FIT Kids the children will get to enjoy an energetic interactive session of fitness through games and exercise in a safe and encouraging environment. Bookings essential on (02) 6043 4550. Cost: $10 per child, $5 concession.

Children and parents alike are invited (dressed in your PJs if you wish!) to join us at Wodonga Library on July 4 for an extra special night-time Storytime reading of Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, a book that introduces us to 100 remarkable women and their extraordinary lives.

A selection of stories will be shared and discussed by local men and women who are rebelling against gender stereotypes to succeed in their chosen pursuits.

Register for your free ticket here.

Remember to still try to get outdoors these school holidays, you may simply have to put on a few extra layers of clothing.

Visit our local parks (even if it's wet outside) because the park looks different after it has rained, so take a moment to walk around and enjoy the plants, trees and nature.

Wodonga has some great cycling and walking tracks, so why not dust off the helmet and wrangle the children for a family adventure.
