Free TAFE extended to 2022! Wodonga TAFE’s course offerings continue to grow.

Free TAFE extended to 2022! Wodonga TAFE’s course offerings continue to grow.

Wodonga TAFE is pleased to announce, in collaboration with the Andrews Labor Government, the extension of the signature Free TAFE initiative for 2022!

Included within this extension is the inclusion of a number of new course offerings which will increase Wodonga TAFE’s number of courses on offer under this funding to 30; giving more Victorians the opportunity to access training as the state progresses through the coronavirus pandemic. Minister for Training and Skills, Gayle Tierney, today announced seven new courses for next year, headlined by the Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations – giving jobseekers access to world-class training, assisting in addressing the increasing demands of the Supply Chain industry across regional Victoria.

The Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations will provide students with the skills required to work in a variety of warehousing and logistics roles. This qualification plays an incredibly important role in business operations and is a great starting point for those seeking a supervisory or managerial role. The course covers all areas of supply chain, from receival and dispatch, securing cargo for transport, load and unload cargo as well as chain of responsibility.

Wodonga TAFE will be offering this course to public students who are either seeking employment within the industry, or to those already employed and are seeking to increase their expertise and to progress within their role. Traineeships will allow employers within the industry to specifically train their staff at work, whilst having teachers travel to the job site to undertake practical assessments in the workplace.

“The demands of the supply chain and logistics industries have drastically increased over the past 20 years, with huge increases in online shopping being a major driving force. In order to address this, businesses are investing heavily in the industry and creating a range of new distribution networks across the country,” said Paul Kennelly, Teacher Warehousing, Wodonga TAFE.

The new course additions are part of a regular review of the Free TAFE list by the Labor Government, ensuring training meets key government priority areas and skills demands while also boosting the Victorian economy. The other new courses added to the Free TAFE list at Wodonga TAFE include Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership, supporting the recreational and tourism industry a large employer within our region, and Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, funnelling more expertise into the health and aged care system.
