An initiative of Kabayan Association of Albury-Wodonga Inc
Many cultures. One community: A showcase of different heritages through performing arts.
FREE public family event – gold coin donation appreciated.
Rhythms Without Borders is the inaugural community event of the Kabayan Association of Albury-Wodonga Inc., creating a welcoming platform for people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds to come together and share their heritage through dance, storytelling and music.
12pm to 2pm: Invited cultural groups will take the stage at The Cube Wodonga Courtyard to showcase the traditions, stories and rhythms that form part of their identity.
2pm to 6pm: More family entertainment and free children's activities including a visit from Trixie the Clown, colouring and face painting.
Stallholders including food vendors will operate from 2pm to 6pm.
The event is about more than performances. It is about connection, understanding and belonging. Albury-Wodonga is known for its beautiful landscape, but the Kabayan Association believes its greatest warmth comes from the people who live here.
Rhythms Without Borders aims to help make our region not only a place to visit for its landscapes, but also a place to experience the warmth of its people and the richness of its cultures. By sharing our heritage, we create opportunities to learn about one another, appreciate our differences, discover what we have in common and build friendships across cultural boundaries.
Their vision: a community where people can proudly share where they come from while also celebrating where we are, together.
Through music, movement and stories, Rhythms Without Borders seeks to create a happy, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where everyone, regardless of cultural background, age, social standing or status, can feel that they belong. It is a celebration of the idea that our differences do not have to divide us. They can become the threads that weave a stronger community.
Why “Rhythms Without Borders”?
Rhythm does not need a passport. A dance can tell a story. A song can carry a memory.
