Australia Day 2026

Australia Day 2026

26

Jan

Wodonga Council will celebrate Australia Day with our new citizens and award winners in a ceremony at the Baranduda Fields Sporting Complex.

Please note that this event has been moved to the Baranduda Fields Sporting Complex as the previously listed venue, Wodonga Exhibition Centre, has been operating as an Emergency Relief Centre due to the current fire situation across the region.

Celebrate the occasion with live music, delicious food, free coffee by Pony Espresso and fun activities for the entire family including face painting and a petting zoo.

Make the most of the event at the Baranduda Fields Sporting Complex with its exciting, state-of-the-art facilities, undercover grandstand seating and welcoming greenspaces that make it the perfect backdrop for Australia Day.

The event kicks off from 7am, with the official ceremony taking place from 8.30am to 9.30am where 53 new citizens will take their oath and the 2026 Australia Day Awards will be presented.

Festivities will conclude at 10.30am.

Timetable of events:
7am - Barbecue breakfast to be served by Apex Wodonga
7am - Wodonga Brass Band to perform
8.15am - Officials and guests to be seated with Sing Australia performing
8.30am - Official proceedings commence with Australia Day address by 2025 Wodonga Citizen of the Year, Saguna Gevariya, presentation of Australia Day awards followed by the citizenship ceremony
