Call for works for Small Sculpture Prize

23 Jan, 2020

Wodonga Council is calling all artists who work in three dimensions to enter the Upstream Small Sculpture Prize.

This inaugural exhibition – part of the Upstream festival to run over the March long weekend – will celebrate the beauty and intricacy of small-scale, three-dimensional artworks.

Entry categories are for primary and secondary students as well as adult artists.

Selected entries will form an exhibition that will run in the lead-up to and during the Upstream - Festival of Art + Culture from March 2 to March 9, 2020.

Three winners will be chosen from the selected works exhibited.

To be eligible for the Upstream Small Sculpture Prize, sculpture must not exceed 400mm in length and 400mm in width and can be made from any medium or material.

For guidelines and terms and conditions visit upstream.org.au, complete an online application form and upload three clear images of the artwork you wish to enter.

Entries close Friday, February 7, 2020.

Prizes are $1000 for adults, $500 for secondary students and $300 for primary students $300

All entries will be considered by a curatorial panel comprising a prominent local artist, a local curator and a representative from Arts Space Wodonga.

This panel will select up to 20 works for the exhibition considering the following criteria.

  • Creativity – To what degree is this something that we have not seen before
  • Quality – The use of the chosen medium and skill involved in making the work
  • Composition – How effectively has the artist used visual elements within the artwork
  • Idea – How effectively has the artist communicated an idea or theme

The winner of the Upstream Small Sculpture Prize will be announced at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Upstream Street Party event at Junction Square.
