From humble beginnings in Shepparton, to leading one of Wodonga’s most beloved bakeries, Melanie Simpson has truly made her dream come to life.
After years of learning the ropes and perfecting her craft as an employee at Miss Naked Cakes, Melanie found herself in a prime position to guide the business into its next chapter as owner.
“Taking over Miss Naked Cakes felt like a very natural next step for me,” revealed Melanie.
“I worked alongside the previous owner, Clare McRae, for almost four years and I’ve always admired the brand’s commitment to beautiful, handcrafted products where flavour and quality speak for themselves.”
“Clare did an incredible job of building the business for so many years and I am very grateful that I get to continue to grow it and see where it goes in the future.”
Inside the doors of Miss Naked Cakes, you’ll find a passionate team turning out handcrafted cupcakes and cookies with beautifully finished decorations and indulgent, flavour-packed fillings.

This accompanies a range of wedding and celebration cakes, plus the ‘Need it Now’ range for those last-minute purchases.
The menu also includes gluten-free and vegan options, and even dog-friendly cupcakes, ensuring everyone (including furry friends) can enjoy a taste of Miss Naked Cakes.
The signature White Choc Biscoff cupcake is a personal favourite of Melanie’s from the extensive flavour range.
“I could honestly eat our Biscoff buttercream straight with a spoon, it's that good!”
“It's not too sweet and rich which is why I like this flavour. Plus, who doesn't love Biscoff!”

Beyond the sweet treats, Melanie says it’s the people who make every day rewarding.
“Even on the busiest days there is a great energy in the kitchen, and I feel very lucky to work alongside such a supportive team.”
That enthusiasm translates into exciting plans for 2026, with pop-up stores set to appear across the region.
Melanie also hinted at the possibility of cupcake and cake decorating classes in-store as a prospect for the second half of 2026.
“Miss Naked Cakes is more than just a business to me. It represents years of learning, hard work, growth and consistently giving my all,” she reflected.
“I wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without the support and encouragement from my family, friends, the Miss Naked Cakes team and the wider community.”
“I am just so excited to keep going with a clear purpose and vision for both myself and the business,” Melanie concluded.
