Result declared in Lake Hume ward by-election

15 Oct, 2025

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has formally declared the result of the Lake Hume Ward by-election.

Ron Mildren has been elected as Councillor for the ward for the remainder of the current council term.

The by-election occurred following the resignation of Cr Hannah Seymour on June 30, leaving the ward position vacant.

Councillor-elect Mildren previously served on the council from 2016 to 2024.

On behalf of Wodonga Council, we congratulate Mr Mildren on his election and look forward to working with him.

Wodonga Council’s Mayor Michael Gobel welcomed the appointment of the Lake Hume Ward Councillor.

“I look forward to our councillor group working together as we continue to create a vibrant city,” said Mayor Gobel.

“We benefit from a diversity of voices around the table, each bringing a unique set of skills, experiences and perspectives to our decision-making.

“Together, we will work collaboratively to drive our strong ambitions forward, building a thriving Wodonga for years to come,” he concluded.

The councillor-elect will be sworn in at an Oath of Office ceremony on Monday, October 20.

The next council meeting will take place on Monday, October 27 at 6pm in the Council Chamber.

These meetings are open to the public and community members are welcome to attend in-person or via the livestream.
