Opening in the Wodonga Water Tower retail space on Saturday, July 26, Melissa Boyes and her husband are excited to launch The Book Tower and share their passion for quality literature, classic reads and unique book experiences with the community.
With a PhD in Literature, Melissa has taught literary studies locally at La Trobe University and CSU and is excited to reflect her interest in the classics at The Book Tower.

“About two years ago, I set up ‘The Book Temple’, a bookstore and book club, on my family's farm just outside Wodonga as a hobby, and it proved to be very popular amongst local readers,” says Melissa.
“From my background in literature, I'm very familiar with classic books and what is popular with those studying in this area.
“As an avid reader and book collector, it was a natural step for me to start selling and sharing with other like-minded readers.”
Now, Melissa broadens her enthusiasm for sharing literature through The Book Tower.
Along with the sale of a variety of fiction, poetry, children’s literature and non-fiction books, the business looks to invite authors for talks and book launches, as it continues to grow.

Located at the base of Wodonga’s iconic Water Tower, the building has been a significant landmark of the city since 1924.
The tower was officially decommissioned in 1959 and has since operated as a retail space for more than 64 years.
The tower has become a meeting place for many over the years and Melissa says she is excited for The Book Tower to take up residence in this renowned building.
“Many local people have their own opinion of what they think should occupy the Water Tower.
“Book shops tend to set up in quirky old buildings and the Water Tower is certainly that!”

Melissa says she looks forward to the journey ahead with the business, talking with people about books, keeping literature circulating and inspiring new readers.
Located at 198A High St, Wodonga, The Book Tower will be open from 11am to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday, during the winter months. Summer hours are yet to be announced.
To celebrate its opening, the store will welcome customers on Saturday, July 26, from 11am to 4pm.
Be sure to call past the shopfront to browse your favourite reads and keep your eye out online for the business’s upcoming Facebook page and website.
