Annual Community Satisfaction Survey results delivered for Wodonga

7 Jul, 2025

For the ninth year in a row, Wodonga Council has participated in Local Government Victoria’s Community Satisfaction Survey, with the 2025 results demonstrating a strong performance relative to the council’s peers.

Polling was conducted between January and March 2025, with 56 out of 79 Victorian councils participating.

Among Wodonga Council’s highest-performing services were Arts Centres and Libraries, with an index score of 77, as well as Appearance of Public Areas and Waste Management.

Planning and Building Permits, Informing the Community along with Sealed Local Roads continue to be areas identified for improvement.

Matthew Hyde, Wodonga Council Chief Executive Officer, noted the significance in achieving promising outcomes during a time of considerable change.

“This is the first Community Satisfaction Survey conducted under the new councillor group, inducted into the council in October 2024,” he said.

“With an overall performance index score of 60, Wodonga Council continues to rate significantly higher than both the Regional Centres group and the state-wide average.

“This highlights the consistent quality of services we provide to our community.

“I am immensely proud of the efforts of our staff to assist in achieving these strong ratings.

“Our departments will now work diligently to analyse the data more closely to help guide future service improvements.”

The survey’s findings also included a tailored report on the community’s preference for a new single site greenfield hospital or a redevelopment of the existing Albury Base hospital.

Across all breakdowns of age groups, there is strong community preference for a new single site greenfield hospital.

“These results highlight a clear reinforcement of the importance of the advocacy efforts undertaken by the council over the past several months,” Mr Hyde revealed.

Furthermore, in the June 23 meeting, Wodonga Council adopted its Budget 2025-2026 and Council Plan 2025-2029.

These strategic documents reflect the key priorities of the council’s future planning and act as a strong reflection of its commitment to the community’s ongoing success.
