Roll up, roll up for the Wodonga Volunteers Fair

21 May, 2019

It's that time of year when we will say a big 'thank you' to all our volunteers at the Wodonga Volunteers Fair on Saturday.

Come and enjoy some brunch on us, as you sit listening to some great music by Toucan Rock, all whilst you pamper yourself with a free shoulder massage.

There will be market stalls promoting volunteer opportunities as well.

So if you know of someone who is thinking of volunteering but doesn't know where, this will be a great opportunity to explore roles currently available.

The event has been running successfully since 2014 and this year marks an important milestone for volunteering in Australia.

National Volunteer Week, which runs until May 26, is celebrating 30 years.

National Volunteer Week was the first collaborative attempt to promote volunteering nationally and is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia.

The week provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our community and to say ‘thank you’ to the more than 6 million Australians who volunteer in a wide range of roles.

So, on a local scale, we want to give each volunteer a pat on the back and say ‘thank you and keep up the good work’.

This year we have renamed our Individual Volunteer of the Year award in honour of Bryan Watson.

The Bryan Watson Award is sponsored by Belvoir Wodonga Rotary Club.

To discover who took out this award, come along to The Cube Wodonga from 11am.

There's also the team award, as well as the people's choice awards.
