Is your child a class clown?

28 Feb, 2022

This event has been cancelled.

The search is on for Australia’s funniest teens.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival's one-of-a-kind national comedy competition for young people is now open.

Class Clowns aims to inspire, engage and elevate teens aged 14 to 18 (Years 9 to 12).

It is free to enter, and all students need is a three-to-five minute original act in any style of comedy.

Heats around the country start with two-hour workshops, where students rehearse and refine their acts with the help of a professional comedian, followed by an opportunity to perform for a live audience.

Wodonga’s competition is on March 11 from 7pm at The Cube Wodonga.

Selected comedians go on to compete in state finals, with the winners invited to participate in the national grand final for a chance to win a cash prize of $1500, and a workshop package for their school.

For more than two decades, Class Clowns has helped hundreds of funny, young peeps hone their comedy potential.

Past participants such as Joel Creasey, Annie Louey, Rhys Nicholson, Aaron Chen and William McKenna have gone on to careers in showbiz, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is always on the look-out for the next generation of funny people.

If you are a teacher, parent or guardian of a funny teen, head here to register and learn more.
