Young Achiever Scheme

Through our Young Achiever Scheme (YAS), we recognise and support young people (under 25) who display an outstanding commitment to and/or achievement in their chosen field.

The scheme provides financial assistance (of up to $800) to individuals or groups of young people to participate, develop skills, compete, perform or represent Wodonga in their chosen endeavour at a local, state, national or international level. Conditions apply.

There are six categories:

  • Arts, performance, music and dance;
  • Sport and recreation;
  • Community leadership;
  • Education and training;
  • Cultural; and
  • Agricultural, environmental and sustainability.

The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12 to 18 when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state, national or international sporting championships or a School Sport Australia state or national championships.

There are grants of $500 available for successful individual applicants, and $3000 for successful team applicants.
