Volunteer of the Year Awards 2026

National Volunteer Week returns for 2026, with this year’s theme, Your Year to Volunteer, honouring the immense contributions of volunteers.

It also invites people across Australia to make this a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.

This year, we take a moment to thank those who already give their time and to invite others to discover how volunteering can create connection, purpose and lasting positive change. Not all heroes wear capes. Some deliver meals, fight fires or care for the vulnerable. They're our beloved volunteers and now’s the time to recognise their care and compassion by nominating them for an award.

  1. Bryan Watson Award (Wodonga Individual of the Year)
Recognition of an outstandingly effective volunteer as the Individual Volunteer of the Year.
  2. Wodonga Volunteer Team of the Year Award
Recognition of an outstandingly effective team of volunteers as the Volunteer Team of the Year.
  3. Two Cities One Community Volunteer Award
Recognition of an outstandingly effective individual or team who contributes to both Albury and Wodonga.

Nominations close 5pm on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Award winners will be announced at an invitation-only event at The Cube Wodonga on Thursday, May 21, 2026. For more, please call the council on (02) 6022 9300.
