Spreading the 'jam'

13 Aug, 2019

Street Jam is a new event being planned for Wodonga's youth on September 20.

Wodonga Council is asking people to spread the 'jam' about the twilight youth festival developed and facilitated by young people for young people.

“The young people and the committees that are engaged in this project are excited that every aspect of this event has been dreamt up, organised and soon to be facilitated by them and their peers,"  Wodonga Council Youth Development Officer Scott Bates said.

Street Jam brings together sport and recreation, arts and culture, food, music and community to celebrate and reflect the diversity of our young people.

There will be live music, street food, art workshops, a mixed basketball competition and more.

“The aim of the festival is to have something for everyone," Scott said.

“We are in the middle of organising final details with bands, artists and workshops to be announced soon. There are still spots available to be a part of the three-on-three basketball competition, so if you are interested and haven’t signed up there is still time."

The event will be held at Wodonga Senior Secondary College from 4pm to 10pm and is aimed at 15 to 20 year olds.

This is an alcohol, smoke and drug-free event.
