Preschool funding promotes inclusiveness and diversity

Wodonga’s aim to leave no one behind has been enhanced with funding for new equipment, toys and sensory kits for the city’s preschools.

Belgrade Ave, Baranduda, Felltimber Children’s Centre, Jamieson Court, Southern Rise Children’s Centre, Stanley Street and Koorie First Steps Preschool will benefit from the Inclusive Kindergartens Facilities Program, which promotes inclusiveness and diversity.

Wodonga preschools will receive wheelchair accessible indoor-outdoor tables, large foam blocks, which provide a gross motor and multi-sensory experience, and sensory toys and equipment.

“The funding will allow us to provide an inclusive environment to improve the learning outcomes for children with disabilities and special needs,” Manager Early Years and Family Services Nola Bales said.

“Wodonga Council wants to ensure no one gets left behind and this equipment will allow for a more inclusive environment in our preschools and help to ensure no child gets left behind in our city.

“We want to create a healthy, safe, equitable and inclusive community.”
