Nominate a young person for a RED Carpet award

Young people aged between 14 and 24 years who work, live, study or volunteer in Wodonga are eligible to be nominated for Wodonga Council’s eighth annual RED Carpet Youth Awards.

In 2017 the awards will recognise young people across nine categories including individual community service, sport/recreation volunteer, young carer, apprentice/trainee, endurance/persistence, advocacy and action, music and performing arts, visual arts/media, and the penultimate award of youth ambassador.

“A lot of young people help others out in their own time (and sometimes at their own expense) – for example by coaching a sporting team for a short period of time, or by caring for someone long term,” Cr Kat Bennett said.

“The RED Carpet Youth Awards allow our community to celebrate and recognise the amazing contribution these young people make to our community.”

Since the awards began nine years ago, they have continued to shine the light on young people who help strengthen the community in Wodonga.

As in past years, many local businesses have taken up the mantle of providing valuable sponsorship and include Wodonga Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Wodonga, GenesisCare Radiation Oncology Albury Wodonga, ATEL Employment Services, Aware Industries, Rotary Club Wodonga Central, Dutch Media, and RACV.

Erin McIntosh – a 2016 finalist in the Performing Arts category for her outstanding contribution to local music and drama – said the awards are a way to acknowledge all the awesome things people are doing in the community.

Nominations close on Friday, June 2, 2017. Nomination forms can be downloaded from

A gala dinner and award ceremony will be held in July.
