Hill ready to put on a ritz

10 Oct, 2019

Playing Fred Astaire is a role dancer Glenn Hill always aspired to have.

And bringing Astaire to life in Cheek to Cheek has been an amazing experience for Hill and one he is looking forward to bringing to The Cube Wodonga on Saturday, October 12.

Hill will team up with Christine D’Agostino in this all-singing and all-dancing celebration of the romance and elegance of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rigers.

“It’s a special and well-loved role,” Hill said.

“It’s great to play Fred as it’s a celebration of the 10 musicals he and Ginger Rogers did, which left a lasting legacy.

“The show is filled with beautiful songs and dances.”

Hill, who has been dancing since he was five, said the show has been well-received with the music evoking memories of yesterday.

“People come up to us after the show and tell us how some of the songs remind them of their childhood and when they first watched the movie,” he said.

“It’s wonderful to be able to give people that experience and jog people’s memories.

“There are some beautiful dance routines that people will fall in love with.”

Hill has shared the stage with some of best names in the industry including Anthony Warlow and Marina Prior.

“I got my first touring job when I was 16,” he said.

“I was quite lucky that I had great people around me to support and guide me. I’ve been lucky enough to share the stage with some of the biggest names.”

Hill says he enjoys travelling to regional areas and performing for crowds.

“It’s great to get out and see parts of country that you might not normally get to see,” he said.
