Get active these school holidays

16 Sep, 2019

The weather is warming up and we have a host of activities to keep young people busy and outdoors these school holidays.

There’s a focus on staying active over the break with programs like Kids Boxing and Kids Bootcamp with Aligned Leisure.

The fitness classes will be held at Felltimber Community Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays during the holidays.

For basketball fans, Street Jam twilight youth festival on September 20 will feature a three-on-three basketball competition.

Street Jam brings together sport and recreation, arts and culture, food and music.

The event at Wodonga Senior Secondary College is aimed at young people in Albury and Wodonga aged 14 to 20.

Don’t let issues with transport stop you from attending because we have got you covered.

If you live in Albury, there will be two buses run from QEII Square, Albury and Coles, Lavington.

You need to book your spot on the bus at https://forms.gle/oFs9hzBfdQUDS8LA8

Tickets are $10 pre-purchase or $15 on the gate. Book your ticket here wod.city/StreetJamtix

The fun continues with the popular All Aboard event on Wednesday, October 2.

The event promises a full day of activity that challenges young people to engage with their peers, experience new things and make new connections.

Young people aged 9 to 16 years will enjoy a day of adventure as they are transported between four different venues including Supaworld and Flyaway Gymnastics.

Continue with outdoor fun as you explore Bonegilla Migrant Experience during the holidays.

Enjoy a guided or self-guided tour of the national heritage site as you take in the cultural history.

Guided tours are at 11am and 2pm each day during school holidays.

For those in Baranduda, a fun night of Pizza, PJs and Karaoke is on the cards at the Baranduda Community Centre on September 20.

Get a group of friends together and don’t forget to wear your PJs.

There will be other games and fun things to do on the night.

Baranduda Community Centre is also offering Kids Pamper Session on September 23 for those aged over five.

Enjoy a foot spa, nail art and hair creations.

Let the kids get creative in the kitchen at Felltimber Community Centre’s Kids Cooking Club on October 1.

Participants will learn how to make a savoury and sweet dish with help from our facilitator Mary.

For those who enjoy art, Chiltern artist Kirrily Anderson will be on hand these school holidays to give children a drawing lesson at Arts Space Wodonga on September 26 from 2pm.

During the two-hour Exploring Drawing with Kirrily Anderson workshop, we will play a number of creative drawing games to inspire your children to think outside the box when it comes to creating art.

The children will be able to experiment with coloured markers and explore different drawing techniques to create a number of finished artworks.

The workshop is perfect for primary-aged children and costs $10 per child.
