Writer and sometimes dinosaur wrestler

9 Aug, 2019

With a writing career spanning 25 years and more than 140 books, Wodonga Library and The Cube Wodonga are bringing one of Australia’s most beloved authors to the Border on Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22.

Jackie French AM is a writer, dinosaur wrestler and wombat tamer from the Araluen Valley in NSW whose writing career includes 148 wombats, more than 140 books, 36 languages, 3721 bush rats, and more than 60 awards in Australia and overseas.

Her books have won national and international awards and sold millions of copies (while others were eaten by the wombats).

She is an historian, ecologist, dyslexic and a passionate worker for literacy, and the right of all children to be able to read.

Jackie was Australian Children’s laureate for 2014 and 2015, and Senior Australian of the Year 2015.

Her books for young people include Diary of a Wombat and Hitler’s Daughter, with the young adult/adult crossover Matilda Saga and the Miss Lily series, and Let the Land Speak for adults.
