Are you looking for something to keep the kids entertained these school holidays?

Wodonga Council has got you covered.

Below is a list of the many things to see and do from art shows to tie-dying and other craft activities at the community centres to taking part in Australia Day celebrations, there's something for everyone.

 

Year 12 Arts Show 2019

Exhibiting now to January 26, 2019 at Arts Space Wodonga.

Arts Space Wodonga is delighted to collaborate with Murray Art Museum Albury and the Albury LibraryMuseum to showcase artworks by Year 12 students from across the Albury-Wodonga region. Come and see what drives the young creatives of tomorrow through an exhibition of work developed for Year 12 assessment.

 

 

 

Summer at Bonegilla

Wednesday, December 26, 2018 to Sunday, January 27, 2019.

This summer, Bonegilla Migrant Experience is the perfect place to start your cycle tour of the High Country Rail Trail and Lake Hume. Join our experienced tour guides at 11am daily for an intimate glimpse into the former Bonegilla Migrant Camp.

Site open from 10am to 4pm. Free entry to site. Tour cost: adults $11, children $9 and family $30 (2 adults, 2 children).Enquiries: (02) 6020 6912.

 

 

Make Believe: Holiday fun at Arts Space Wodonga this summer

Close your eyes and imagine ... Your creativity can take you anywhere with the upcoming NGV Kids on Tour 2019.Entering its sixth year, NGV Kids on Tour is a National Gallery of Victoria initiative celebrating this summer’s major exhibitions.

Children throughout Victoria have the opportunity to engage with art through a range of free, hands-on activities and workshops. Inspired by three imaginative exhibitions, children will experience creative new ways to make believe. Cost: Free. No bookings necessary, just drop in. Suitable for families.

When: Thursday, January 10, 11am to 12.30pm; Thursday, January 17, 11am to 12.30pm at Arts Space Wodonga.

 

The Summer Reading Club at Wodonga Library

Real creatures to the imagined, actual to mythological, microscopic to megafauna and so much more await discovery in this year’s Summer Reading Club.

Curious Creatures invites children to explore the imaginary whilst promoting the joy of reading.

Curious Creatures Craft on Thursday, January 10; Curious Creatures Wildlife Exposure on Tuesday, January 15; Curious Creatures Drama Workshops on Monday, January 21; Curious Creatures Wrap Party on Thursday, January 24.

Dane The Great Magician Show at Felltimber Community Centre

Monday, January 21 from 10.30am to 11am.

Come one, come all to see the amazing Dane the Great Magician. Bring the kids along and be amazed by this fun filled magic show.

The Great Dane Williams has travelled around Australia for the past two years with a magic show for the young at heart - small illusions and amazing impossibilities, you won’t believe your eyes!

Cost: $10 per person.

 

Vertical Herb Garden with Bunnings at Baranduda Community Centre

Tuesday, January 22 from 10am to 12pm.

Free session to create a vertical garden herb garden for out the front of the Baranduda Community Centre.This herb garden will be accessible by all the community members! Bookings: Baranduda Community Centre on (02) 6020 8643. Cost: Free.

 

 

 

Tie-dying for Kids at Felltimber Community Centre

Tuesday, January 22 from 12.30pm to 2pm.

Bring the kids along for a fun session of tie-dying over the school holiday period.Participants will need to bring two items along such as a t-shirt, pillowcase, cloth bag, socks or another item and will learn the art of tie-dying in a fun session.

This is designed for 8 years and older. Please wear suitable clothes for using dye.

Boys on the barbie – School Holiday Program at Felltimber Community Centre

Wednesday, January 23 from 10am to noon

Don’t let your boys miss out on this fun and tasty session learning how to master the barbecue. Participants will learn the basics of cooking a variety of meats, marinating food, explore vegetarian options and create side dishes to complement their meal.

Participants are then welcome to invite their family along to enjoy the delicious food at the end of the session in our beautiful outdoor settings. Small class sizes, places are limited. Book in early so you don’t miss out! 8 to 14 years only.

Natural Bath Bomb Making at Baranduda Community Centre

Thursday, January 24 from 10am to 12pm.

Come along and make your own bath bomb from scratch! Using natural products and essential oils of your choice. Take home and relax in the bath with something you have made!

Physical Fun with Amity Fitness at Felltimber Community Centre

Friday, January 25 from 10am to 11am.

Have fun, get active and find your inner superhero while learning some martial arts in a safe and friendly environment these school holidays.

The session is designed for school-aged students and will be an hour jam-packed with fun martial arts-based activities.

Ages: 7 to 13. Bookings essential as places limited.

Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony at Les Stone Park 

Saturday, January 26 from 7am to 10am.

Celebrate what’s great about the nation this Australia Day by joining in a free morning of activities and family fun.

Wodonga will welcome its new citizens and congratulate its worthy winners of Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Organisation of the Year.

Celebrations include a free barbecue breakfast, music and lots of activities for the kids.
