Johnny and June’s love story recreated

4 Feb, 2019

Expect to see Johnny Cash's 'wild side' come out during a refreshing tribute show at The Cube Wodonga on February 7.

Cash (Jeff Carter) says he and his co-star, June Carter (Brooke McMullen) bring to life a captivating and unforgettable musical concert where they embrace a young side of the couple.

"The show is a lot of fun and it's quite different to the traditional, old school Johnny Cash as we do a younger take on the famous couple," Carter said.

"We look at when Johnny was a bit wild and we get right into it and get the crowd involved.

"We don't think we are Johnny and June, we just do our best version of the songs and, in between all that, it's about entertainment."

It has been a whirlwind 14 months for Carter and the band, with McMullen coming on board as June several months later after a chance meeting following one of Carter's shows.

"She came up to me and we got talking and I discovered she was a performer too," Carter said.

"She performed one night and the rest is history.

"Now we have 80 shows and we have been asked to headline the Johnny Cash Festival and we will be in Europe by 2020."

"It's like a dream come true for any musician, to be honest."
