Richardson Park to be transformed into water park

4 Feb, 2019

Bring the kids along to Richardson Park on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 for some fun water play.

The city's new green space will be transformed into Soak City - a water park with a range of temporary structures made from such things as foam pool noodles.

Venture through the 'car wash' and test out the water wall while parents and carers enjoy a coffee or lunch from nearby traders.

Residents can also check out the redevelopment of the area, which includes a decorative water tank and stand, reminiscent of the tanks used to fill the steam trains at the former railway site and has been designed in conjunction with Development Victoria.

There's also an interactive sculpture by Xavier Pinard, whose works feature across the region, consisting of a horse and climbing bars like a set of cow’s horns symbolising a herd of cattle.

A reference to the Wodonga saleyards which was situated in the area, the pieces of the work titled Droving offers various climbing, tunnelling and cubby spaces for imaginary play and complements the water play moving through the site.

Soak City is aimed at pre-school and primary-aged children.

Be prepared and come along in your swimmers and slip, slop slap.

Children must be supervised at all times.

The event runs from 10am to 2pm on both days.
