Have your say on proposed upgrade at Belvoir dog park

15 Jun, 2021

Wodonga Council is seeking community feedback on a proposed upgrade to the fenced off-leash area for dogs at Belvoir Park.

The first of its kind in Albury-Wodonga, the dog park has been extremely popular for more than 10 years.

“Our community is very passionate about their pets and council receives a lot of feedback about dogs,” Mayor Kev Poulton said.

“We’re asking specifically about Belvoir dog park and what people think of the proposed improvements.

“We have a budget to make some improvements and we want dog owners who use the park – and those who choose not to use the park for whatever reason – to tell us what they think.”

The proposed upgrade includes:

- A new, separate section for quieter or timid dogs
- Concreting the main entry area because of high traffic
- A bubbler
- Additional seating
- Shade
- A sensory play area featuring natural elements such as trees, different grasses and mulch

Cr Poulton said the proposed upgrade had been developed in line with best practice research by the Australian Institute of Animal Management and learnings from dog parks around Australia.

“We’ve done the research and now we need to hear from the local experts, the dog owners who use the park,” he said.

“I urge people to have their say so we can make this great resource even better.”

Cr Poulton said that because of COVID-19 restrictions, people were encouraged to have their say online at makewodongayours.com.au or to email makewodongayours.com.au before June 22.

Anyone who is not online or needs assistance to have their say, can contact Customer Service on (02) 6022 9300 and ask for the Engagement Team to call them back.
