Public Art Walk - Crossing Place Trail

Public Art Walk - Crossing Place Trail

06

May

Hosted by Wodonga Council

Discover the beauty and stories of the Murray River on a guided walk along the scenic Crossing Place Trail. This relaxed 1.5 hour, five kilometre loop winds through a natural environment of gum trees, where keen observers may spot an array of local wildlife.

More than just a walk, the trail features striking sculptural works by local Aboriginal artists and offers a deeper connection to the area’s rich cultural heritage. Along the way, your guide will share insights into native flora and fauna, the story of Yarre the Mailman and the significance of the billabong landscape. Keep an eye out for a scar tree and other important cultural markers that highlight the deep connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to this special place.

Recommended for ages 10 and over, the trail is suitable for prams for younger children.

Please wear comfortable enclosed footwear and bring a hat, sunscreen and a drink bottle. Insect repellent is also recommended.
