WODONGA Council is encouraging residents to take part in Ride to Work Day held this month.
With more than 70km of off-road pathway through the city, there is a route to suit most riders.
Wodonga Council and Streets Ahead invite residents to a free community breakfast to celebrate Community Safety Month and Walktober which includes the Ride to Work Day and Ride to School day.
The program has been designed to encourage workers to feel good and have fun by commuting to work by bike and experience the health, financial and environmental benefits of riding.
Recreation and well being officer Merryn Deslandes said cycling to work helped combat greenhouse emissions, improved health and fitness and was a fun way to exercise.
The free breakfast will also include a range of activities including:
- Best decorated bike competition;
- Best decorated anti magpie helmet;
- Bike obstacle-skill test.
Wodonga Police will also be present to help riders with bike education and safety tips.
Riders are encouraged to download a map of the bike tracks from www.wodonga.vic.gov.au or drop into the council offices in Hovell St and collect a copy to map your best route to work.
