New sustainable living guide points towards better future

Posted: 30/06/2009

THE Wodonga City Council Sustainable Living Guide is now available online and provides helpful actions to a more sustainable future.

Developed in conjunction with The Natural Strategies Group, the guide is designed to help Wodonga residents take action to live more sustainably at home and in the community.

The guide is packed with information about how small and easy changes can have positive impacts on the environment and your health and well being, while saving you money.

Director sustainable development Johan Louw said residents should check out the website and find out just how easy it is to work towards creating a sustainable future.

“Council is encouraging residents to challenge themselves and take up a new sustainable action today,” he said.

“Some of the top actions include buying local and seasonal food, cultivating energy-saving and water-saving habits, growing your own food, avoiding excessive packaging on food and installing a solar hot water system.

“These are just some things we can incorporate into our lives with little or no inconvenience.

“We need to do it for ourselves, our children and our children's children.”

Some of the areas covered on the website include community, food, garden, goods, house, recreation, services, transport, waste and work.
