OBJECTS on hand at home, a bevy of old toys and junk, provide the subject for observational drawing by Rita Lazauskas.
Lazauskas' exhibition titled The True Adventures of Paperclipman will offically open at Arts Space Wodonga this Friday at 5.30pm followed by an artists' talk on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 6pm.
Iconic symbols of Western culture, such as ‘Barbie', are among the jumble of debris on the desktop.
Viewed at close range, drawing the viewer into an intimate space, the discarded toys, each with their own attributes and imperfections, become metaphor for the human condition.
The free exhibition will run from July 31, 2009 to August 22, 2009.
The gallery is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.30am to 6pm, Thursday from 9.30am to 8pm and Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
