Do you have a specialist position or skilled vacancy in your workplace you are having difficulty filling locally?
Then the Skilled Migration Support Service run by Wodonga Council is here to help.
This free service provided in collaboration with the State Government's Global Skills for Provincial Victoria program, has been working with local employers to source, assist and retain highly skilled candidates for hard to fill vacancies.
Skilled Migration Officer Johanna McFarlane said as the economy started to pick up, local employers were again looking for skilled employees to keep up with demand.
“We have developed strong relationships with government and industry bodies, enabling us to access a pool of skilled workers both nationally and internationally,' she said.
“There are many skilled migrants already in the country who are keen to relocate to a regional area.
“Once the right candidate is found, we work closely with the employer and the employee to ensure a smooth transition to starting work in the Wodonga area.
“We do all we can to fill local skill shortages and retain these skills in the region.'
She said supporting the employee and their family to feel at home in Wodonga was of primary importance to ensure this goal is achieved.
