IT is often difficult to decide on which preschool to send your child to, so why not come along to the preschool open days in Wodonga to help you make the right decision?
Wodonga Council operates seven preschools in Wodonga, and is inviting parents and children to visit the centres during the month of June.
Manager recreation and early years Debra Mudra said there are many different models of preschool offered throughout the Wodonga community.
“Wherever it is, preschool should be a wonderful and exciting time for children and often provides the first formal learning experience away from home,” she said.
“Children who have the opportunity to experience the type of learning that they gain from preschool programs will have had a good preparation for school.
“Preschool programs can be delivered in a diverse range of settings to meet the varying needs of individual families and if a focus of quality care and education is the primary goal, then it should be a magical time for both parents and children.”
Parents and children are welcome to visit the council's centres on the days listed below between the hours of 9.30am and 11.30am.
This will give you an opportunity to see the centre in full swing, check the facilities and have a chat to staff before making your final decision.
- Tuesday, June 9 - Silva Drive Preschool and Felltimber Preschool
- Thursday, June 11 - Belgrade Ave Preschool (located temporarily at 6 Havelock St), Strathmore St Preschool and Baranduda Preschool
- Friday, June 12 - Jamieson Crt Preschool and Stanley St Preschool
Please note that in late 2010 to early 2011, Silva Drive and Strathmore St preschools will be relocating to the new White Box Rise Estate community school site, and Belgrade Ave Preschool will be operating from its new redeveloped site in 2010.
You will need to enroll your child for preschool by July 31 in the year before your child is due to attend (to be included in the first round of offers). You can enroll your child at the council offices in Hovell St.
