Children from St Augustine's Primary School will be helping Wodonga Council staff plant native grasses and plants at the new Belvoir Park playground.
The school has been involved with the Belvoir Park playground through consultations that were undertaken last year around the design of the playground.
This involved the children using 3D models.
Wodonga Council manager recreation and early years Debra Mudra said the project aimed to assist children to build a connection with the playground and develop some ownership over it.
“Council's landscape architect will also be discussing the grasses and the purpose of the plantings with the children adding to their environmental knowledge,' she said.
“One of the aims of the playground design was to encourage interest and exploration in the natural environment and for the playground and Belvoir Park to be seen as an outdoor learning environment suitable for curriculum subjects such as science, maths and environmental sustainability issues.'
